Josuha Guilavogui Foundation

Let's give the children of Guinea a future: a home, an education, a chance.

"Ever since I was a teenager, I swore that if I could fulfil my dream of becoming a professional footballer, I would help children to fulfil theirs. In the autumn of 2019, I made this dream come true by opening an orphanage in Guinea, the country of my ancestors.

For me, it's a project of the heart. The foundation not only offers orphans a loving home, but also the chance to go to school and grow up in a healthy and safe environment. With us, children can enjoy their youth and get a real chance at a better life.

So, in order to secure the orphans' future in the long term, I have set up the Josuha Guilavogui Foundation in 2021 - a foundation whose aim is to support my orphanage."

Josuha Guilavogui

Our work

When Josuha first visited Guinea, the homeland of his ancestors, he was deeply affected by the poverty and misery of the local people. A few years later, to help the country's children in particular, he founded an orphanage in Conakry.

However, when Josh founded the Josuha Guilavogui Foundation, it wasn't just about getting orphans off the streets, it was about giving them a loving home and a better life. Young children should have the opportunity to shape their own future, whatever their past history. No easy task in a country where the majority of the population can neither read nor write.

Our children

Fanta Bah

Fanta is our first baby. It was early this evening that her single mum had the courage to knock on our door to entrust us with this little angel. When she arrived, Fanta wasn't walking yet. She immediately became the focus of everyone's attention. Fanta, our youngest daughter, has changed the life of our foundation. We are all Big Sisters Big Brothers Mother and Father

Bintou Onivogui

Bintou was previously in an orphanage. It was during our visits to help partner orphanages that Bintou fell in love with a member of our team. Each time she left, she held her back to prevent her from leaving. So it was with the agreement of our partner that we decided to take her in for a few weeks with our foundation. Love is amazing, it takes many forms and is often unpredictable. Bintou is now part of our family and remains as close to Thérèse as ever.

Thierno

Before arriving at the Guilavogui Foundation, Thierno's life was a real struggle. His father died before he was born and his mother during childbirth. Although his grandmother had no roof over her head, she still tried to look after Thierno. Grandmother and grandson have struggled all their lives, begging, sleeping in car parks or makeshift garages. Thanks to Josuha and her team, little Thierno finally has a roof over his head. He can now sleep in his own bed every day and look forward to a brighter future.
